Bauchi State Governor Isa Yuguda
The
Governor of Bauchi State, Mallam Isa Yuguda, has dismissed rumours that
he was planning to defect to the opposition All Progressives Congress.
He accused his political detractors of spreading falsehood in a desperate attempt to cast him in a bad light.
The governor said this in a telephone interview with our correspondent in Abuja, on Monday.
The governor said he had no plan of leaving the ruling Peoples Democratic Party for the APC.
He explained that he was focused on
providing leadership for the people of Bauchi State as well as continue
to mobilize support for President Goodluck Jonathan.
Yuguda, explained that his unalloyed
support for the President made it imperative for him to join other well
meaning Nigerians to mobilise support for him.
The governor said, “Let it be known to
those who did not know that I remain one of the unrepentant loyalists of
President Goodluck Jonathan and I will continue to work with him even
after he might have left office as our President.
“It is also a known fact that since
Jonathan became President I have been one of his most consistent
supporters. What then am I going to do in the APC, as the tale bearers
are insinuating?
“Over the years, I have used the solid
political structures I have developed to work hard for Jonathan’s
success in my state and I will continue to work with him in whatever
capacity he desires and nobody can stop us.”
He expressed optimism that he would not
need to defect to any other political platform should he decide to run
for any office in the next dispensation because the PDP remains the best
platform to realize any such ambition.
The governor also said he was not
oblivious of the antics of some self-seeking politicians who believe
they were better positioned to actualise their evil plots by soiling the
relationship between him and the President.
He cautioned such politicians to perish the thought because such antics would lead them nowhere.
