Former Nigeria goalkeeper Peterside Idah has blamed coach Stephen Keshi for putting the team’s best striker Emmanuel Emenike on the bench for most of the 3-2 loss to Congo.
“I was surprised Emenike was on the bench for this game,” said Peterside.
“Keshi is the coach, he decides who plays and when, that’s why he is being paid. If his selection didn’t work or he decide a particular player will sit on the bench, he takes the blame for whatever happened.”
He also blamed the players for being over confident against Congo.
“Our players were over confident, Congo showed they wanted to win the game more than us, and they took the game to us and they were the better side on the day,” he conceded.
